Beyond Diets: What My Search for Better Health Taught Me

Anjali Sakharkar
Sitting together by the lake, reflecting on the journey to better health

As a fitness trainer and studio owner, I've always believed one simple truth: you cannot give others what you don't have yourself. That's why I dedicated years to studying nutrition—short courses, long diplomas, endless lectures. Yet, despite all the certificates, I felt something was missing.

Every program claimed to be "the perfect one," but often contradicted the others. And had to continue studying since they claimed 'now the research says…'! And often we were told what you learnt earlier is outdated & that approach should not be followed anymore!

The more I learnt instead of clarity, I was left confused and restless, still searching for the bigger picture. We all have experienced this there's so much information out there but what to take & what not to take often feels like a confusing spiral.

This quest finally led me to Dr. Jinendra Jain, just noticed his add on the social media. And everything he said made complete sense to me & as always I decided to give it a try.

The Retreat That Changed Everything

I was fortunate to attend one of Dr. Jain's live retreats, and within days, my perspective on health transformed. He shared a simple but profound insight:

Food is not the source of energy—it requires energy.

One idea Dr. Jain shared completely shifted the way I looked at food. This struck me deeply. Suddenly, the fatigue, the fogginess I thought came from lack of sleep made sense. Dr. Jain explained how six "invisible holes" quietly drain our life force every single day.

Why One-Dimensional Health Fails

I did several courses but they all were focused on either diet alone or fitness focused. Most approaches focus on just one dimension—like food or exercise—while ignoring the others. But Dr. Jain's philosophy is holistic.

He teaches Shuddhi (purification) at six levels:

  • Body (Sharir): cleansing through simple practices like kunjal and neti to cleanse & stabilize the gut.
  • Food (Bhojan): mindfully choosing the food, simple preparation and consumption, turning meals into medicine.
  • Water (Jal): restoring vitality with natural filtration.
  • Mind (Man): releasing anger, fear, and guilt through breathwork and forgiveness.
  • Speech (Vachan): practicing truthful, compassionate communication.
  • Environment (Vaayu): decluttering spaces and harmonizing with nature.

When you only plug one hole—say, diet—the other five continue to leak energy. True rejuvenation requires addressing all six simultaneously.

My Takeaway

Lasting health isn't achieved through isolated diets or workouts. It's about gentle, simultaneous cleansing of all six life dimensions. From barefoot grounding to mindful eating, from decluttering your space to practicing forgiveness—these small shifts create profound transformation.

Perhaps the question isn't 'Which diet should I follow next?' Perhaps the better question is: 'What else in my life is quietly draining the vitality I'm trying so hard to create through food and exercise?'

If you've been chasing diets and routines without lasting results, maybe it's time to look deeper. True vitality begins when we purify not just the body, but the mind, speech, food, water, and environment.

If you too are searching for answers, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Jain's Śatavashyak program. With options ranging from INR 199/- to 60,000/- plus GST, there's a path for everyone. Follow it sincerely, and it will not fail you.
